"In 2004, Impact World Tour Through Youth with a Mission came to Lethbridge and filled the Enmax Centre with their program. I was asked to be the Chair of the Impact World Tour and took it very seriously, promoting the Impact World Tour throughout the church community. The result was that one of the events, the BMX event exceeded the capacity and the doors had to be locked by the Fire Department because we had such an incredible response to the Youth with a Mission Impact World Tour event.
In the meantime, we were also part of a “City Wide” event. The Church of Lethbridge gathered at the Lethbridge College for worship on a regular basis. It was beginning to wind down and we met with the organizers and were, in essence, commissioned to take on a “City Wide” context where we could continue to promote Spiritual and Christian events within the Lethbridge community. Under the heading of “City Wide”, we began to take on other events in 2007.
The first Global Day of Prayer was hosted in Lethbridge and promoted through the “City Wide” and eventually we also developed a Love Lethbridge campaign, following closely after the organizational structure of Love Abbotsford. By 2004, we already sponsored a Party in the Park, celebrating the events of Love Lethbridge, which included litter pick up throughout the City, which the churches of Lethbridge enthusiastically supported and made a more major campaign than any other organizations within the city for city clean up. We also had parade floats in the parade, which were audibly cheered when they came into view, featuring worship bands. The parade floats won awards and were hugely successful in mentoring and nurturing and encouraging support for Love Lethbridge.
Throughout all of these events, we hosted board meetings for all comers at the Norland Office of my Architectural Practice. About this time, it was determined that we should start to have a more definable presence and Love Lethbridge was chosen as the heading under which we would move forward, continuing to nurture and encourage inter-church relationships.
Eventually by 2010, we had perhaps the most major expression of Love Lethbridge in the construction of the Gary Boivin Residence. Gary Boivin had lost his legs due to Cancer. His wife had also contracted Cancer and he had raised Michelle Boivin in a home on 6th Avenue. The home was very dilapidated and difficult and so we ended up building a brand new home and having it moved to site, creating considerable impact in the community. Gary eventually succumbed to his cancer and Michelle benefitted greatly from her own home.
Love Lethbridge continues to look for ways to nurture Christian commitment to worthwhile events and to nurture inter-church discipline through our mission to view our city through the Word of God (biblical worldview) and then bring city transformation by responding to the issues in our city biblically.
Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.
Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.
Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are." - Alvin Fritz
